L.O.C Method for severely dehydrated hair

The LOC Method: To get Incredibly Moisturized Hair

If you have naturally curly hair, you may have heard about the LOC method. If not, this is your sign to try this new routine for the best feeling kinks, coils and curls.

The acronym LOC stands for liquid, oil, and cream. As you might have guessed by now, the LOC method is a moisturizing layering technique that entails hydrating the hair. This method requires applying a liquid or leave-in-conditioner such as water or a water-based product, then using oil to seal in the moisture after applying a cream product which prevents moisture loss. The products are applied in that order, therefore making it an easy-to-remember hair moisturizing routine. Try the LOC method and the LCO method to find your favorite combo!

The LOC method is unique to other hair moisturizing methods because of the specific order of the layering of products. This method ensures maximum moisture retention and is effectively sealed by two sealants - oil and butter.

Having curly hair often makes it challenging to maintain moisture. However, incorporating the LOC method into your hair routine could be your saving grace.

The LOC method works best for hair that always feels dry. For example, people with Type (3) and (4) hair generally use it because of how coils and kinks are thirsty. However, porosity will be the determining factor in whether or not this method will work for your hair.

Regardless of your curl pattern, if your hair is processed or color-treated, you possibly have high porosity, and it is difficult for your hair to retain moisture. Conversely, if your hair is curly and low porosity, this method could result in product buildup and limp hair.

How the LOC Method Works in Moisturizing your Hair

The LOC method works to moisturize your hair because of the makeup and density of the three essential products being used.

Water-based leave-in conditioners that are generally lightweight will absorb into the hair shaft to moisturize it. Subsequent to this, adding a penetrating hair oil will moisturize and as the sealant for your leave-in. The final step, the cream, will ensure to seal in the previous moisturizers. In addition to this, it will smooth the cuticle down so your hair does not become frizzy.

Step-by-Step Process of the LOC Method

Step One: Liquid or Leave-in-Conditioner

Apply a water-based, leave-in moisturizer to your already washed hair. For this step, we recommend you use Quench Hair Serum. This serum will not only moisturize your hair but detangle it. Made with aloe vera juice, hyaluronic acid, and other effective ingredients, the quench leave-in conditioner is the perfect lightweight moisturizer and refresher.

Step Two: Oil

After applying your liquid of choice, the next step is to use a thin layer of oil to your hair to help seal in the moisture. Depending on the porosity of your hair, the amount of oil that you apply will vary.

Step Three: Cream

The third and final process of the LOC method is applying a cream, or butter-based moisturizer to your hair will help lock in the moisture from the previous products used.

We recommend you try Exotic Chebe + Ayurveda Butter Cream. This product is made with exotic oils and herbs, including African chebe and Indian ayurvedic herbs, avocado butter, broccoli seed oil, carrot seed oil.

Following the steps of the LOC method will have your coils and curls looking healthy, moisturized, and defined in no time.
